CUSTOM Railing Systems

HILTON OVERHEAD WALKWAY – AUSTIN, TX

Weighing in at over 116 tons, the new Hilton Bridge that connects the Hilton Hotel to the Austin Convention Center is an engineering marvel.  Currently standing 50 feet above E. 4th St, the bridge was fabricated and completed  2 blocks down the street.  Once completed, it was moved overnight to its current location.   VIVA Railings not only designed and installed a unique stainless steel railing system, but we also fabricated a cablenet system as the infill between the posts and created a cablenet curtain wall as well.  Similar to our WINDWALL™ System, it helps block debris from getting on the bridge.

ZACHRY ENGINEERING EDUCATION COMPLEX

VIVA Railings furnished and installed several hundred feet of a CUSTOM Wire Mesh Railing System for the Zachry Engineering Education Complex, designed by Vaughn Construction. Project architect Treanor Architects had a specific design in mind for their feature bike rack and wanted a custom wire mesh railing fencing surrounding the exterior bike racks as well as the NE Plaza Wall.  The design needed the railing posts to be an easy to maintain railing system that is also aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Customizing our CIRCA™ Posts, we combined our standard WM-10 design with a thicker, taller post, we were able to bring the architect’s vision into a reality.

HI-LINE RESIDENTIAL BLDG – DALLAS, TX  –

VIVA Railings was tasked to design and engineer a complete glass windwall system at the amenity deck level for the new Hi-Line residential building in Dallas downtown (overlooking the American Airlines Center).  VIVA also furnished and installed along with over a 1000 ft. of SHOE Glass Railing System on this project. The Glass Wall was designed 8’ tall with structural supports made out of glass (Fins) as well.  Engineering the system was a challenge with high wind loads, given the structure available to mount to was deep below the built-up deck. Working with our in-house engineering and team, we designed the system using the VIVA SHOE system base mounted via chemical anchors and custom stainless steel spiders.

The result is a beautiful windwall barrier giving a full view of the beautiful Dallas downtown behind the buzzing interstate I-35E.

UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS TYLER – HEALTH AND SCIENCE FACILITY  –

VIVA Railings custom designed a complete Stainless Steel fence for the UT Health Science building in Tyler, TX. This system used the VIVA CUBE System posts with round perforated stainless steel in-fill panels. Most of our railing systems can be re-engineered to adapt to a wind-wall or a fence application. We do more than just railings!

UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS – BUSINESS LEADERSHIP BLDG. – DENTON, TX

ARCHITECT: JACOBS ENGINEERING GROUP

VIVA Railings furnished and installed several thousand feet of VIEW and SHOE Railing system for UNT Business Leadership Building, designed by Jacobs and General Contractor HUNT Group. Project architect Jacobs had a specific design in mind for their feature exterior stair and wanted a custom wire mesh railing system in bar stock framing and posts. The design needed the railing posts to be leaning at a certain angle with the framed infill panels following the same angle. The concrete stair that this railing was on was a moving target due to dimension and layout changes from original design. With some long hours of field measurements we were able to make the architect’s vision come true boasting four systems on one stair! VIEW, SHOE, FSR & Custom Wire Mesh systems.
