STAINLESS STEEL ALLOYS

SS-316

Stainless Steel 316 alloy features even further corrosion resistance with the addition of the chemical molybdenum.  Also known as marine grade alloy, environments which carry high saline environments, areas with lower, year-round temperatures and seaside locations make SS 316 alloy a perfect choice.  Surgical instruments frequently, if not all, use SS 316 alloy due to its non-reactive elements.  Both Stainless Steel varieties are used in automotive, aerospace, food, pharmaceutical and welding applications.  VIVA Railings provides both options depending on project specs, environment and several other factors to best suit your design needs.

SS-304

Stainless Steel Type 304 is the most widely used stainless steel, and it’s also known as “18-8” stainless steel because of its composition – it includes 18 percent chromium and 8 percent nickel.  Stainless steel takes its name from its ability to resist rusting thanks to the interaction between its alloying components and the environment to which they’re exposed.  SS 304 proves to be corrosion resistant and oxidation resistant as well as being a cost-effective solution to extend the life of your modular railing system.

FINISHES

#6 SATIN

#6 Satin is a silver-white finish with relatively short linear directional polishing lines.  This finish is quite common with SS architectural applications. It is a two-step abrasive polish finish with the equivalent of a 240 grit abrasive.

#8 MIRROR

#8 Mirror is the most reflective finish covered by ASTM Standards.  Produced in a similar way as the #6 finish with further buffing. The grit lines are much less visible than the #6 finish but can be seen upon close inspection.  The final product is a mirror-like finish.

*#8 Mirror Finish comes at an additional cost to our #6 Finish.
